Meet Our Preschool Staff

Sara Sjoquist, Director & Classroom Teacher

Sara has 8 years combined experience as a preschool teacher and after school care director. She holds a BA in English from Indiana University and is ESL certified. Currently she is pursuing her Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential. Her passion for children begins in her home, as she is a mother of two.

Katie Cartagena, Classroom Teacher

Katie graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Elementary Education. She knew from a young age that teaching was her calling in life. While this is her first year at Little Lights, she has been teaching for a total of 4 years. She enjoys researching new methods of teaching, planning fun activities that promote learning, and providing opportunities for students to grow academically.

Lois Kizer, Classroom Teacher

Lois brings a pediatric Occupational Therapy background to our program, along with 30 years of experience in children's ministry. Lois is the mother of two grown children whom she successfully homeschooled from preschool to college entry with merit scholarships. "So much important development occurs in the preschool years," Lois says, "I consider it a privilege to have input at this stage of these precious children's lives."

Student-to-Teacher Ratio

Little Lights believes in meeting the spiritual, social and academic needs of each individual student; therefore, we have two full-time teachers in each classroom invested in your child's comprehensive growth.

Safety Certification

All full-time staff members are certified in CPR and administering first aid for children.

Our Facilities

Little Lights pre-school has two classrooms, a gymnasium, kitchen access and a separate and secure entrance to ensure child safety throughout the day.
